Fun Find

From time to time I come across an unexpected treasure at Fogelson Library.  Last week I found this:

Descriptive Piano Music: One Hundred and Fifty Incidental Excerpts for Radio and Stage Performances

This 24-page volume has about 100 little musical excerpts arranged for easy piano.  The excerpts are highly stereotypical of their titles and some are pretty funny.

If you are thinking about making a film that is reminiscent of the silent era, have someone play selected pieces from this book to imitate the music that would have been played at the theatre!
You can choose from moods, nationalities, military, dances, spooky themes, and more.

You can find this gem on the upper level in the Musical Scores collection (near Study Room 7).  The call number is MUS SC GP COLL DPM B-00.    Lots of fun.
