AN ACADEMIC LIBRARY MINUS STUDENTS

Fogelson Library.  We are open all summer, 8-5 Monday-Friday.

For the past two weeks in between looking for a summer job, you have been wondering what we could be doing here at Fogelson Library with so few students in town.

Here's a pop quiz.

What do library employees do when the patrons don't patronize?
 a)  sit, feet up on the counter, watching youtube videos in the air conditioned building.
 b)  go on vacation until fall semester starts.
 c)  re-pot the plants and look for a summer job.
 d)  work on Library projects away from the circulation desk.

What kinds of projects?
 a)  plan out which books to read for the rest of the summer.
 b)  move items around to avoid going to the gym; books are heavy and build muscle.
 c)  Update and maintain collections and equipment.
 d)  Shelf read.

What is shelf reading?
 a) Reading all the books on a shelf
 b) When one reads silently to oneshelf.
 c)  Arranging the books in order of their call numbers on the shelves.
 d)  Beats me; who cares?
